The 2nd EUROPLAN National Conference took place on 20 October 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine. The NGO Rare Diseases of Ukraine was the organiser.

The conference was attended by national health and human rights’ authorities, patients’ representatives, medical doctors and scientists. It led to a Resolution signed by the participants, regarding the necessity for the establishment of a national rare disease patients’ registry. Indeed, such registry in Ukraine will enable to better identify patients living with rare diseases and help put in place necessary measures for taking care of these patients while planning healthcare expenditures.

The Resolution also calls for an extended newborn screening programme as well as better equipment for diagnostic centres with a view to improve early diagnosis of rare disease patients as well as genetic counselling.
